The Young Adult Initiative (YAI) is Life Unbolted’s signature support program for young adults navigating the federal criminal legal system. Created and led by individuals with lived experience, YAI provides consistent guidance, mentorship, and stability from the earliest stages of a case all the way through supervised release.
YAI is designed to interrupt the cycle of system harm by meeting young adults exactly where they are emotionally, legally, and practically and surrounding them with a supportive community that understands their journey firsthand.

Our federally impacted circles have three core elements of restorative justice: the interconnected concepts of Accountability, Repair, and Transformation. Each element is discrete and essential. Together, they represent a journey toward well-being and wholeness that the community, family, and participants can experience. Accountability leads to repair, and repair leads to transformation.
Life Unbolted is committed to driving awareness and fostering meaningful collaboration among service providers, philanthropic leaders, and government agencies to dismantle systemic barriers and advance equity for federally impacted individuals -an often overlooked and underserved community.
By uniting these critical sectors, we expand access to essential resources, create pathways for sustainable growth, and advocate for second chances rooted in dignity and opportunity. Through intentional partnerships and collective action, we are not only addressing immediate needs but also amplifying the voices of those too often unheard, working to build a more just, inclusive, and responsive system for lasting impact.
